Freeze Frame: The Punk Princess Awakens

Designer Natasha Meli’s line of dresses, skirts, swimwear, and coverups is a Vivienne Westwood meets Bestey Johnson mashup of attitude, sequins, and pretty punk princess. As models walked to Venus, Cyndi Lauper, and the Pretenders, they presented snazzy swimwear, shiny tops, lovely lace, and spunky tutus.

Teeny weeny bikinis were decked in black and white stripes, shiny silver, black and white sequins, tassels, and even rhinestones! One-piece swimsuits criss-crossed, exposing backs and fronts. Sheer fabric on one-piece swimsuits connected pieces printed with chain link fence motifs. Metal hardware connected tops to bottoms.

Knit ponchos and fishnet capes hung over bikini bods and big tulle tutus balanced the volume from models’ big updos. Black ribbon and leopard print decorated waistlines while sequins added trim details around necklines.

Hexagon prints in black, white, and peachy pink sequins decorated cover-ups, dresses, and rompers; sometimes mixed with lace or tulle for a texture-gasm. Long dresses with long slits to the waist, mini A-lines, and plunging neckline rompers added enough sex appeal to balance the punk-rock mood of the collection.

She closed the show with two pretty statement pieces- a long black pleated A-line, decorated with a long black sequins cape in her hexagon motif and a white A-line mini, a long white sequins veil trailing behind the model.

A word from the bloggers…

The styles appeal to young women who want to enjoy themselves and get dressed up without taking themselves too seriously. –Style In Transit

On the whole I liked the collection and the vast choice available which varied from swimwear to going out dress without forgetting that good doze of punk effect, which will definitely go down well with the younger generation. –Diva Inside

The creations in this collection are very reminiscent of the 80’s which are definitely back in fashion. Made out of lush sequined fabrics, every piece in this collection is the fruit of Natasha’s love of fashion, the years of industry experience and a creative commercial outlook. –Lara’s Beauty Bible
