Day 3 – Gaetano – DIVAS

Thursday, May 25th, 2017

Gaetano’s new collection titled DIVAS was a celebration of femininity, a celebration of powerful, strong women who want to be seen and heard – no shrinking violets here. His inspiration was music and female singers. Divas such as Mariah Carey, Beyonce and Cher were all muses for the different pieces.

The pieces are very glamarous, fit for a showgirl, or the glitziest party of all. What was interesting was his combination of modern trends such as flared pants into his pieces, it made them feel fresher. The grand finale of the show was Claudia Faniello singing Breathless, one of Malta’s best divas.

He went for a clean styling approach even in terms of hair and makeup and the result was very effective.

Day 3 – CARLA GRIMA ATELIER

Thursday, May 25th, 2017

Carla’s very summer presentation was colour feast for the eyes. Bright colours, beautiful silk fabrics and of course, eye-catching prints. Her swimwear collection is sure to be greeted with much enthusiasm and her long dresses and flowing kaftans are perfect for those summer days and nights. Silk palazzo pants, knotted bikinis and colourful embroidery are all elements found within the collection.

The presentation was depicted in a setup resembling a beach resort. The models moved between deckchair, bar and table areas, interacting with each other continually, completely bring to life the setup. The audience could already start day dreaming about their own experience wearing one of the beautiful pieces.

Maria Cutajar presented a transeasonal collection inspired by a bohemian lifestyle. The collection contrasted between flowy, light fabrics heavy voluminous knitwear.
