Colores del Flamenco is the title chosen for an exhibition presented by Yana’s Jewellery.
This collection is based on years of admiration towards Flamenco and collates inspiration from a recent cultural trip in the south of Spain.
Flamenco is another form of art. It combines dance, music, emotion and movement. Drawing inspiration from a typical Flamenco scene, this new collection consists of vibrant Spanish inspired patterns which together create a new fashion concept.
Flamenco allows women to wear such attire with pride and sophistication. In this scenario, this collection captures these elements to transform a new style into wearable art that is suitable for women of all ages.

The upcoming High Summer collection ‘GYPSEA’ takes inspiration from the idea of the gypsy mermaid.
‘Instead of clothing, she decorates herself with jewels and accessories. She collects lost coins, and attaches them to her garments, and creates charm bracelets from them. As she touches the mediterranean water, her skin gleams and glistens and seems to turn to glitter as it is caught by the warm sun.’
Hand illustrated Maltese coin prints are the protagonists of this collection. Print colours are taken from vibrant underwater reefs. Unifying the collection are the jewel-toned purple satin elastics intertwined within rose-gold hardware, a signature ISLE&AQUA decorative feature which glamourises each piece, and transforms them into beautiful pieces of body jewellery.

Hitting the local scene with a bang in 2014 with his provocative SKANDLU collection, Marco Parascandalo has gone from strength to strength since establishing his brand four years ago. The PARASCANDALO brand has become synonymous with cool, cutting edge, one of a kind pieces which are sure to make the wearer stand out from the crowd. PARASCANDALO imbues his rebellious style with local messages reflective of Maltese culture, politics and environmental issues to dramatic effect. Not one to shy away from controversy, Marco’s slogan t-shirts, bearing their now instantly recognisable slang terms, have opened the door to a new, young market of stylish buyers. Using a variety of materials and textures, the PARASCANDALO brand produces everything from t-shirts to ready-to-wear one-off pieces and statement accessories.
Malta Fashion Week 2018 will mark a new chapter in the PARASCANDALO story and he plans to commemorate it with a collection simply entitled: S.T.A.R. Marco explained his new collection is inspired by different eras which he married together in order to create a new, unique PARASACANDALO aesthetic. With three, harmonious colour stories and an exciting use of fabric manipulation, denim, knitted cotton and satin, S.T.A.R. promises to offer something for every fashion forward kid on the block. The collection’s name is itself loaded with meaning: the five points of the PARASCANDALO star will represent Marco Parascandalo’s fifth fashion show at Malta Fashion Week.

Tahlia : Summer 2018
Tahlia: A wistful daydreamer caught up in the euphoria of wanderlust.
This vibrant collection is inspired by the leafage found in summer hot spots around the globe. We take you on a journey from Mediterranean islands to the tropical Caribbean. Prints are influenced by the designer’s Mediterranean surroundings and a recent adventure to the island of Dominica.
From the rich orange hues of Maltese citrus fruits to the serene tones of green banana leaves, this is a story of summer obsession. A palette of nature’s purest colours, transformed into watercolour paintings… The garden-inspired prints are contrasted with brush-like stripes, juxtaposing organic and linear and adding a contemporary edge to these traveller’s prints. Silhouettes evoke ease and comfort, with kaftans, dresses and palazzo pants cut from ultra-lightweight fabrics, effortlessly skimming feminine curves.
The beauty of this collection is in its adventurous mismatch of prints. Breezy, lightweight fabrics in natural luxurious fibre compositions. Tahlia evokes individuality, a sense of urgency to travel and discover new worlds.

The collection is called Al-Magrib – the Arabic word for ”Kingdom of Morocco” – following the fact that it is very much inspired by Moroccan architecture and style when it comes to colours, details and print. An additional inspiration for the collection is Leonardo Da Vinci and his artwork, especially his sketches on human anatomy.
Black, white and beige are core colours accompanied by denim, cobalt blue and burned orange. The Moroccan silhouette is seen in the wide legs and a specified waist. Among some of the styles you will find tailored suits, detailed jackets, airy evening gowns and cool swimwear.
The overall vibe is luxurious, detailed, powerful and bold. Materials used in the collection include neoprene, denim, cotton canvas, suede, jacquard, woven cotton/ polyamide, mesh, silk, satin as well as silk georgette, which give a variety of textures and feel to the collection.

Milan is a metropolis that thrives on success. As Italy’s indisputable commercial centre, this is also where countless entrepreneurs choose to launch their careers. From the boardrooms of smart business blocks to the charming cafés that sit on every corner, Milan is place where dreams are made and goals are embarked upon.
But it isn’t all business and no pleasure – this is a city bedecked with a stunning architectural heritage, awe-inspiring historic sites and glamorous destinations. Over the centuries, some of Italy’s most iconic residents have made Milan their home, including artists Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, composer Verdi, the inimitable tenor Enirco Caruso, and designer Giorgio Armani. They have each left their marks on the city and their creative genius is still felt today.
The only way to get to know Milan is by wandering through it, exploring the culture and delights that live on every corner. Highlights here include the colossal Cathedral of Santa Maria Nascente – known simply as ‘Il Duomo – a flamboyant Gothic church that is among the largest in the world. Then there’s the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II – a haven of luxury shops and elegant cafés designed by Giuseppe Mengoni; its manufacture marked the beginning of modern architecture in Italy and it stands as a splendid example of 19th-century industrial iron and glass construction. And, of course, no trip to this city would be complete without an evening at the opera – and the Teatro alla Scala to be exact. It is a destination that has welcomed all of the world’s great operatic composers and singers, and it remains one of the most prestigious cultural buildings anywhere in Europe.
So, it is enveloped by all of this beauty that Gagliardi’s unveils its latest collection. Designed for the gentleman who needs to move effortlessly between cities, as well as between purposes, it is a compendium that combines flair with convenience. This year’s collection, _ATRONYMIC, represents the illustrious heraldry of Malta’s family names. These various surnames will be worn boldly, displayed on diverse garments with meaningful motifs. Geometric, surrealist prints embolden this notable theme, inspired by designs of various Maltese coat-of-arms. A colourful and monochromatic collection exhibits an expressive approach to paying tribute to the history behind these families. Maltese family names show substantial evidence of the Arab period in Malta. The language itself was derived from Siculo and North African dialectal Arabic which can be seen clearly through these Maltese surnames. A historical and commemorative approach to design is something that her audience has become accustomed to seeing in Ritienne’s numerous collections, along with her innovative, yet contemporary designs. _ATRONYMIC displays pieces which can be adapted easily to weather conditions year-around. Zammit`s attention to construction detail this year is inspired by climate change and her awareness of a need for season-less garments.
